Tipova Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Moldova. It is the biggest Orthodox cave monastery in Moldova and in Eastern Europe.

Saharna Monastery is considered to be one of the oldest monastic establishments on the territory of Moldova. It is situated about 110 km north of Chisinau. According to a legend, on the top of a high cliff of the monastery, there is a footprint of St. Maria.

The old Harjauca Monastery is located in the ancient Moldovan oak forest, Codru. It was built in 1740.

The complex of the Curchi Monastery is surrounded by a high stone wall and it is endowed with towers at each corner, therefore creating the image of a fortress.

In 1429, Căpriana was given the status of a royal monastery on behalf of Alexander Cel Bun and then remained in the possession of Alexander’s wife – princess Marena. After a certain period of time, this monastery acted as the residence of a Moldavian archbishop.
